The precursor to the Smar-phone started with the Palm Pilot. The Palm pilot with its Qwerty keyboard was the first attempt at a mini-computer. Once Palm added wireless a new smartphone. The original Palm Pilot Personal hand held devices were released in 1997. Unfortunately for Palm they did not take advantage of their innovative technologies and all major brand name phone manufacturers jumped on the opportunity to exploit the combination of Smartphone technology with mobile wireless devices. Today Palm has partnered with Sprint so the distribution is limited. The Palm looks very similar to the Blackberry and has very attractive prices on quality cell phones.
